Tiu, Rain or Shine depletes GlobalPort to gain solo top in standings

QUEZON CITY-- The Elasto Painters produced the total team effort they needed to book a fifth win in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, 96-90.

Both teams showed up in the defensive end as no team scored more than a hundred points in  this tight contest.

The game was temporarily stopped due to a scuffle with three minutes and twenty seconds left in the fourth which  resulted to the ejection of Ahanmisi and Kelly Nabong

Chris Tiu sustained a wound in his lips after an elbow from GlobalPort's Malcom White, but insisted to stay in the game and ends up making a clutch basket for the Elasto Painters.

Tiu made a game-sealing three-pointer with 1:19 remaining in the clock that stretched their advantage to nine.

Bruiser import Reginald Johnson played 37 minutes and tallied a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds plus 7 assists.

Meanwhile, Malcolm White scored twenty one and had eight boards for the Batang Pier but it wasn't enough as his team dropped to 3-3 in the tournament standings.

Rain or Shine 96 - Johnson 18, Yap 14, Ahanmisi 13, Almazan 12, Tiu 10, Ponferada 9, Daquioag 7, Belga 6, Norwood 5, Torres 2, Nambatac 0.

GlobalPort 90 - White 21, Pringle 15, Anthony 14, Nabong 13, Tautuaa 8, Elorde 8, Grey 4, Javelona 3, Sargent 2, Guinto 2, Teng 0, Arana 0.

Quarters: 30-26; 45-45; 67-62; 96-90.
